Recipe(s) Description:

These type of dip/spread recipes usually call for the use of Sour Cream and/or even pre-made dressings (such as Ranch), but we have substituted Greek Yogurt and Mayo for a more healthy low-calorie equivalent that tastes just as good – Simply combine the blended Greek Yogurt and Mayonnaise with the following recipes types (…and don’t hesitate to experiment with your own flavors!):

TRADITIONAL HERBAL DIPS

Ingredients:

    • 2 cup (16 ounces) Greek Yogurt.
    • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) Mayonnaise.
    • 2 Tablespoons Honey Mustard.
    • (2-4) Tablespoons (per taste) = Any (1) of the following (or combination thereof):
      – Fresh Dill.
      – Fresh Basil.
      – Fresh Parsley.
      – Fresh Mint.
*(or use ANY other Herb(s) – according to taste).

    Preparation:

      1. Completely chop the fresh Herbs as fine as possible.
      2. Beat and mix thoroughly, until smooth and well blended.

      CHEESEY NUT DIP

        • 3 Tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped).
        • 3 Tablespoons chopped Chives.
        • 3 Tablespoons chopped Walnuts *(May substitute Pecans or other nuts, for a different flavor – OR a mixture of various nuts, per taste).

        Preparation:

          1. Using a mixer or food processor, place the Nuts, Parsley and Chives into a bowl and thoroughly blend, until finely combined. Then, place this mixture into a small bowl and stir in the Blue Cheese, setting aside until the last step.
          2. Place the Greek Yogurt and Mayonnaise into a separate bowl and blend thoroughly, until smooth. Last, add the herb/walnut mixture to the same bowl and mix well (until thoroughly blended) – Serve at room temperature.

                      3. Then, beat and mix all the ingredients until smooth and well blended – READY TO SERVE.

                      MIXED FRUIT DIPPING SPREAD
*(Experiment and try different combinations of your own).

                      Ingredients:

                        • 1 cup (8 ounces) Greek Yogurt.
                        • 1/4 cup (2 ounces) Mayonnaise.
                        • 2-3 Tablespoons Confectioners’ Sugar (per taste for “sweetness”).
                        • *(Use Fruits/Flavors which compliment each other such as):
                          – 1/2 cup Mandarin Oranges.
                          – 1/2 cup Pineapple chunk slices.

                        Preparation:

                          1. Beat and mix thoroughly (may use a blender or food processor) – Pulse until smooth and well blended – READY TO SERVE.

*These are ALL “cold dips” and should be used immediately, or chilled in the refrigerator until needed. They may also be covered and kept refrigerated or frozen until later use otherwise – but are much better when more “fresh”.

DIPPING SPREADS are perfect for serving as an appetizer with a “Rainbow Veggie Tray” (Cherry Tomatoes, Carrot sticks, Celery sticks, Asparagus spears, Snap Bean pods, Broccoli and/or Cauliflower tops) and even a great accompaniment for various Fruit Trays.

NOTE: That if chips or other similar items are used for dipping (instead of fruit or veggies) then you are adding extra carbohydrates and salt, which significantly take away from the “low calorie/low-fat” and “low-sodium” benefits of these recipes – Otherwise, they are great as a spread for Bagels in the morning.
